CARPOVIRUSINE 2000® is a biological insecticide against apple and pear Codling moth with the same effect as a traditional larvicide.
CARPOVIRUSINE 2000® fits perfectly in Integrated Pest Management and Biological Fruit Protection Programmes. CARPOVIRUSINE 2000® combines the efficacy of an insecticide with high production quality and environmental protection.
Granulovirus : natural originCpGV (Codling moth granulovirus) is a natural pathogen specific to apple, pear and walnut Codling moth, identified in Mexico in 1962. Industrial production was developed by INRA and transferred to Arysta LifeScience (ex Calliope). Natural Plant Protection (NPP), a subsidiary of Arysta LifeScience perfected the industrial process and developed the formulation which became CARPOVIRUSINE 2000®.
Codling Moth – a pest on apples, pears and walnuts.
Method of production - unique expertiseThe industrial production of Carpovirusine 2000® is provided by Natural Plant Protection unit (N.P.P.), a subsidiary of Arysta LifeScience located in Pau.
The production process is as follows:
- Breeding adults in protected healthy zone
- Incubation of larvae on feeding medium
- Contamination of L3 larvae by ingestion of granulovirus concentrated suspension
- Multiplication of virus in intestinal cells of “carrier” larvae
- Collection of dead larvae and extraction of virus
- Quality control of each batch by biological titration
- Formulation and packing
The way Carpovirusine works 1 Viral granules (Gv) are ingested by newly hatched larvae.
2. Gv are liquefied in the digestive cells of the larvae.
3. Multiplication of Gv causes the larvae to stop feeding.
4. Multiplication of Gv in larval cells.
5. Death of the larvae due to septicaemia.
An original speciality product with various qualitiesCarpovirusine 2000®, a direct larvicide action on all Codling moth generations and also durable action causing mortality of over-wintering larvae and transmission of virus to following generations. The insecticidal effect is expressed in the Codling moth surviving descendants. In this way, long term control of pest populations in treated orchards is achieved: this multiple effect of Carpovirusine 2000® is absolutely unique !
The efficacy of CARPOVIRUSINE 2000® is not linked to the degree of sensibility of Codling moth to chemical insecticides: Carpovirusine 2000® is therefore the ideal way to prevent and manage resistance to chemical insecticides.
Carpovirusine 2000® can be used up to 3 days before harvest, and leaves no residue in the fruit.
Carpovirusine 2000® is specific Cydia pomonella, the natural ecological balance orchards is therefore preserved. Carpovirusine 2000® has no effect on auxiliary fauna including bees.
8 reasons to choose Carpovirusine 2000A novel product, reesult of a close partnership with INRA. More and more growers choose CARPOVIRUSINE 2000® for its convincing results on apples, pears, walnuts and nashis.
No residue on the fruit, more security for the consumer, not only in France, but also abroad.
No toxicity is more comfortable and less risky for the user.
In order to ensure stability after treatment, the formulation contains a UV protectant. Each bottle of Carpovirusine 2000® is stored in deep frozen conditions before distribution.
Carpovirusine 2000® acts only on Codling moth. Auxiliary and pollinating insects in orchards are not affected.
Within the framework of Integrated protection of orchards, Carpovirusine 2000® should be used in combination with chemical treatment, and is effective in the prevention of chemical resistance phenomena.
Used alone or in combination with mating disruption, Carpovirusine 2000®, conforms to specifications required for biological crop protection products while protecting the crop against Codling moth.
The fact that Carpovirusine 2000® can be used up to 3 days only before harvest without affecting the quality of the fruit sets the grower's mind at rest as harvest time approaches and ensures security for customers.
A reduction in Codling moth populations in the orchard over several generations means a long term reduction in the number of larvicide treatments, and a guarantee of top quality fruits.
Recommendations for use CARPOVIRUSINE 2000® should be used alternatively with chemicals on G1, G2 and/or G3 larvae. A least one treatment per generation should be made. As harvest time approaches, CARPOVIRUSINE 2000® is the ideal treatment to be free from chemical residue.
CARPOVIRUSINE 2000® is used preventatively in combination with mating disruption. Treatments should be timed to coincide with likely hatching peaks.
CARPOVIRUSINE 2000® should be used alternatively with chemical insecticides on G1, G2 and/or G3 larvae, applying at least two treatments per generation. As harvest time approaches, it is preferable to treat with CARPOVIRUSINE 2000®.
Before mixing CARPOVIRUSINE 2000®, with any other treatment, please consult the web site of the Ministry of Agriculture: www.agriculture.gouv.fr to check that the mixture is authorised.
Storage ConditionsCarpovirusine 2000® should be stored under the following conditions to ensure optimum conservation :

(*) Do not deep freeze for periods exceeding 24 months. It is possible to thaw and refreeze 2 or 3 times during this period.
Remove CARPOVIRUSINE 2000® from the freezer at least one day before use, and leave to thaw at normal temperatures.
Do not heat artificially (e.g. micro wave), all insecticide qualities of the preparation will be irreparably destroyed. Shake CARPOVIRUSINE 2000® bottle vigorously before use.
Arysta LifeScience cannot be held responsible for reduction in the properties of CARPOVIRUSINE 2000® when storage conditions are not strictly respected.
Good Plant Protection Practices Read the label and precautions for use with care.
The user should be suitably protected (gloves, glasses, mask, protective clothing, boots).
Check and adjust spray equipment regularly during use.
Take care when filling the spray tank and adjust the volume of tank mix (anti-return valve, overflow).
Rinse empty bottles three times. Empty rinsing water in the tank mix and recycle the packing through Adivalor facilities.
Do not treat in proximity to watercourses. Apply the mixture in orchards in calm wind free conditions in order to avoid spray drift to ditches, watercourses, roads or surrounding farms or buildings.
Dilute any residues left in the tank and spray onto the plot. Wash protective clothing. Wash hands. Take a shower.
